Unexpected Silence

How do you explain a two week absence?  And was it really necessary?

I apologize for not updating you sooner about my podcast and what else has been going on.  If you remember from my last episode of Live Life Better, I talked about three indicators of a healthy family life.  That came from my own recent experiences, and I’ve been working through my justifications for all sorts of things:

  • Why should I continue studying for a masters degree?
  • What is my real motivation to be in real estate?
  • What’s the purpose and end-goal of this podcast?
  • Where am I really focusing my time? I talk about it a lot on my podcast, but am I actually practicing it?

Suffice it to say, this is the first time in the seven years that Loretta and I have been married that I have only had two things going on.  By that, I mean I am a Realtor (1) and I produce this podcast (2).

However, these past two weeks have been the only time that I’ve only had one thing going on (besides finishing the building process for our house, and staying with friends).  I’ve never been able to go to work, come home, and be done with everything…I always seem to be obligating myself to things that take me away from my family.

That last part, about obligating myself to other people and projects, instead of to my family, is what has caused this unexpected silence.

So what does all of this mean, for this blog, and the podcast?  A few things:

  • I’m going to publish this podcast in seasons (13 episodes per season), similar to TV shows.  This allows for better planning, and a more focused effort of my time.  There’s the “work” (I get energized after recording a podcast), and then the break.  It’ll provide a natural rhythm that works better with my current stage in life.
  • I’m going to provide more of a story line for consistency in each season, touching not only on faith and family, but also my work, and how all of that impacts our ability to “Live Life Better.”

Yup, the only thing constant in life in change, and change in on the horizon.  I really appreciate your dedication and support of this blog and podcast.

So, what do you think of the changes?  There are still some details that need to be worked out, but I’m interested in your feedback!
